The Course

The Hemodialysis Training School offers an eleven week training program.  It combines 80 hours of theory and 240
hours of clinical training, for a total of 320 hours of instruction.

The students learn the typical tasks and clinical routines of the day to day workings of a dialysis clinic.  They are
supervised by a Preceptor, certified by the Department of Health and Human Services, with more than five years of
field experience.  For a majority of their clinical training, the School simulates a working dialysis clinic on campus.  
Students role play situations, practice cannulations, prepare for possible complications, and troubleshoot. All students
must achieve a rating of 85% satisfactory in all areas in order to complete the program.
